Tell us about what your morning routine looks like, and how you like to end your day?
My mornings usually start before the sun comes up—coffee in hand, running through our prep list, and getting ready for our weekly event line-up. It’s a quiet but focused start, and I love the calm before the chaos. At the end of the day, after the truck is cleaned and the last order is out, I try to find a few moments to reflect and be grateful for the people who support what we’re building. Sometimes it feels surreal that I’m getting to do this.
Do you have any awards or achievements you’d like to mention?
We’ve been so lucky to be embraced by our community. While I’m not a classically trained chef or a culinary award winner, we’ve been featured in local food roundups, nominated for regional food truck lists, and most importantly—earned the loyalty of our customers. Every time a customer tells us that our burger was the best they have ever had is a great honor and feels like an award. That means everything to me.
Do you have a favorite chef that you look up to and what advice would you give to aspiring chefs?
I’ve always admired chefs who stay true to themselves—people like Roy Choi, Matty Matheson, and Emeril Lagasse are my role models. My advice to anyone getting started in the food truck business: you don’t need a perfect resume to create something meaningful. Passion, consistency, and humility go a long way. Trust your palate, stay curious, and let people feel your heart in your food.
What do you typically cook at home?
Truthfully, we’re rarely home during dinner hours—so we don’t cook at home as often as we’d like. But one of the best parts of being in the food truck scene is getting to eat from other incredible trucks. We love supporting fellow vendors and grabbing a bite when we can—Big Beantz Tacos and Pops Taqueria are two of our absolute favorites. When we do cook at home, it’s usually something simple and quick—tacos, grilled sandwiches, or a big salad with whatever we have in the fridge.
What’s a food trend that you’re loving right now and why?
I really love seeing restaurants and food trucks focus on quality—whether that’s using ingredients like beef tallow instead of seed oils, or offering healthier options without changing the heart of the menu. At Sear + Savor, we do that with our Savor Slaw—a blend of shredded super greens tossed in our house maple dijon vinaigrette. You can enjoy a great burger and get your greens.
I’m also inspired by food trucks that narrow in on one or two things and do them exceptionally well. It’s easy to find fair-style or concession food, but when you come across a truck that’s obsessed with a specific type of cuisine—and is constantly evolving and perfecting it—it’s exciting.
What’s the strangest food combination you’ve ever tried? And, did you like it?
Peanut butter, pickles, and balsamic glaze—it sounds odd, but something about the salty-sweet-tangy crunch just works. It’s one of those things you hesitate to try but end up finishing. It was a go-to craving when I was pregnant with my daughter—and it was the inspiration for our peanut butter burger, the P3.
What drink do you enjoy most?
Kombucha. Right now, I’m loving Brew Dr. Clear Mind—especially in the summer heat. It’s so refreshing! But, if I’m craving a crispy soda, nothing is quite like an ice-cold Diet Coke with crunchy ice!
Have you ever cooked for a celebrity? Do you have a story to tell?
No celebrities yet—but honestly, every time a customer tells us our food made their day, that’s all the star power we need. Watching someone take that first bite and smile? That’s our kind of magic.
