If you have skied Deer Valley before, forget what you think you know. The resort famous for corduroy grooming, white-glove service and a skiers-only policy has pulled off the biggest expansion in its history, and it all starts at Deer Valley East Village, a brand-new base on the mountain’s eastern side with sweeping views over the Jordanelle Reservoir. Last season alone, the resort roughly doubled to more than 4,300 skiable acres. When it is finished, Deer Valley is planned to top 5,700 acres, 37 lifts and 238 runs, putting it among the largest ski resorts in North America.

Translation: more mountain, more fresh runs and a whole new village to explore, with some of the most exciting hotels in the West opening at the bottom of the lifts. Here is everything you need to know before you book.

5 Reasons to Ski East Village This Winter

  1. Twice the mountain. More than 4,300 skiable acres, with even more terrain on the way.
  2. New lifts, new runs. The Hail Peak Express debuts for the 2026–27 season.
  3. A gondola from the village. The East Village Express links the new base to Park Peak.
  4. Ski-in, ski-out hotels. The Grand Hyatt Deer Valley is open now, steps from the snow.
  5. Be first. Ski it before the Four Seasons, Waldorf Astoria and new village open.

Utah’s most polished ski resort just reinvented itself.

Ride straight from the village to the summit

The genius of East Village is how easy it makes your ski day. Park, check in or step out of your hotel, and you are on the lifts. The Keetley Express opened the new terrain, the East Village Express gondola whisks you up to Park Peak to connect with the rest of Deer Valley, and this winter the Hail Peak Express adds another lift and a fresh set of runs. The views are the bonus: wide-open slopes that look straight across the reservoir to the snow-capped Uinta Mountains.

It is easy to reach, too. East Village is about 15 to 20 minutes from Park City and roughly 40 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport, so you can land in the morning and be skiing by lunch.

Why this winter is the moment

East Village is being built in phases, and the next two years will change everything. The East Village Lodge, the first shops and a pedestrian plaza are slated for late 2027. In 2028, the Four Seasons hotel and Waldorf Astoria are planned to open, along with more than 70 shops and restaurants that will turn the base into a full-blown après-ski scene.

Which is exactly why you should go now. Ski the new terrain while it still feels like a secret, and you will be able to say you knew East Village before everyone else did.
