On September 28, 2022, Hurricane Ian inflicted severe damage on the Naples Pier. Approximately 460 feet of the structure were compromised, including the loss of 140 feet at the end, which sank into the Gulf of Mexico along with over 30 pilings and the shelter. The concession, shelter, and storage structures at the pier's midpoint were also destroyed, and the public shower area sustained significant damage.
